18ct Yellow Gold Antique Ruby & Diamond Ring c.1895
A truly enchanting antique 18ct yellow gold ruby and diamond ring, fully hallmarked and dating to approximately 1895 — a piece of genuine Victorian jewellery history. The broad, domed gypsy-style band features a charming central flower cluster of six round rubies surrounding a single old cut diamond at its heart, with a further old cut diamond gypsy-set into each shoulder of the band within star-cut recesses. The rich, deep pink-red of the rubies against the brilliance of the diamonds creates a wonderfully warm and colourful display full of Victorian character.
The shoulders of the band are beautifully decorated with hand-engraved scrollwork and foliate detailing across the domed gold surface — the kind of meticulous hand craftsmanship that simply cannot be replicated today and which gives this ring extraordinary charm and depth. The substantial domed profile sits comfortably and securely on the finger. Fully hallmarked with a date letter consistent with 1895.
